Fine 19thC solid silver mounted cut glass claret jug

Fine 19thC solid silver mounted cut glass claret jug c,1870-90.  This beautiful tall elegant conical claret jug is finely wheel engraved with geometric and interlaced designs, the base is radial star cut.
The solid silver mount is unmarked but tests for c,900-925 grade.  The finial is finely cast as a lion, the spout is cast with an acanthus scroll design, while the top mount sides are engraved with  vacant scrolled cartouches.  The handle is formed as an elongated scroll.  The central engraved band I believe is a later addition to strenthen the handle which is joined only at the top (a common feature on claret jugs which often results in the handle snapping off) the decoration is different to the rest.  This has been joined with a rivet which could probably be removed if you wanted it returned to its original former state.  Because of this the handle has been slightly bent at an angle by the attatchment to the central band but it is not offensive.

The condition overall is very good with the glass being perfect, the engraving has become a little worn with age relaited polishing but still good.  There is some ware and minor splits to the top edge of the mount but does not show with the lid closed (please see photo's).

I am not sure of its origins but I suspect continental perhaps Northern Europe as the cutting does not seem English in form (I am open to all advise here).
