| Superb early 1860's Royal Worcester Porcelain Company handled vase painted with birds by John Hopewe |

|
| Superb early 1860's Royal Worcester Porcelain Company handled vase painted with birds by John Hopewe |
|
Superb early 1860's Royal Worcester Porcelain Company handled vase painted
with birds by John Hopewell. This early example of porcelain by the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company founded in
that name in 1862 is a stunning example of bird painting by one of its leading artists. The body is the fine and
expensive ivory porcelain which was reserved for the better quality pieces instead of the cheaper ivory blush painted bone
china body. The painting is beautifully detailed and typical of John Hopewell's delicate handling of his bird subjects.
The border is raised with white jewelling and gilt raised paste. The piece isn't marked with a backstamp and
a closer look at the jewelling may provide the answer, as there is blistering to the white enamel, this fault is quite common
on such pieces due to a number of technical factors- therefore it is likely the piece may have been a second. There
is a small area of gilding loss to the side of the handle and on the extremities of the lion masks due to age relaited ware,
not a single chip, crack or any restoration. Overall it is a lovely fine example of genuine 100% 1860's Royal Worcester.

Stunning 19thC Victorian Hand painted Minton still life fruit dessert plate.
Simply beautiful hand painted and gilded antique Minton dessert plate, the centre decorated with a bunch of grapes that look
as fresh as real grapes. The fine pink border is picked out with raised enamel jewels and lavished with fine rich gilding.
The overall condition is very good, there is an area on the reverse of crazing that only lies within the foot rim, and some
of the white jewels have slight black pitting occuring during firing. The only marks to the piece are impressed "BB"
which stands for "Best Body". diam 24cm c,1860
